EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.

Those are Jackson Jennings, Jr’s three mantras. His entire life, he’s been a trained athlete with only one end-game: the Pro’s. No girls. No parties. No alcohol.

EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.
Repeat.
Every Friday night, Triple J cruises the strip on campus, bored, lonely and conditioned not to party. But the night he meets Charlotte Edmonds on the side of the road, he wonders if his three mantras will ever be enough.

BIG. DUMB. JOCK.
Charlie has no time for Jackson’s antics. Not when he’s stealing her food or teases her to no end, making her tingle in all the right places. But if she’s ever going to have a boyfriend, she’d choose one who isn’t a Neanderthal. One with manners and actual time to spend with her. Not a hulking man-child who cruises the strip at night, in his Big. Dumb. Truck.

|REVIEW|
This book, this boy and this author did my southern little heart right in. Everytime I read a Sara Ney book im left with FOMO on my own hot college boy, just 18 years too late. While my  own prince in tin foil certainly came along, he never did it in a Sara Ney hero fashion. While this author certainly brings all the romcom feels, she also brings a sense of realness to her characters making her books so much more.
Jackson, Jackson, Jackson……you big gentle giant, you own me. You’re absolutely everything.  Seriously, everything. You’ve ruined other book boyfriends for me. I mean it could be that you’re a Texan and I’m a Texan and therefore you’re just far more superior than anyone else. It could be that you love football and I love football. Or it could be that we finally got a guys POV on the things we’ve been getting from girls for years. Whatever it is you made me laugh, you made me sigh and most of all you made me read this book in one sitting.
Charlotte, you were the perfect girl for Jackson. You were fire, sass and everything it was going to take to bring Jackson to life. Your sense of humor and undertstanding made you the perfect jelly to his peanut butter.
Jock Road was an instant fave for 2019. I dont need angs, death or unexpected pregnancies to leave me reeling for days for it to be a favorite, I need memorble characters and thats exacty what author Sara Ney gave me. She gave me an unforgettable experience with Jock Road, my only complaint is that we didnt get more of Jackson and Chalotte’s story. I didnt want it to end, I just wanted it all.

I’m Sterling Sparrow. You’ve no doubt heard my name or read it on the top of tall buildings. There’s more to my business—my realm—than what is seen above ground.

Since that day, long ago, Araneae McCrie has been mine.

She just didn’t know.

My father is now gone.

The city and the underbelly are now mine.

The time has come for me to collect who was promised to me, to shred her life of secrets, and make her who she’s always been—mine.

REVIEW:

This book came in hot and took me by surprise in the most amazing way. It was dark, mysterious and sexy in an forbidden way.

Sterling Sparrow is the male character I never knew I was yearning to read. I honestly don’t know what his next, move, word or touch is going to be, keeping me thoroughly entrenched in this story.

Araneae McCrie is the perfect mix of vulnerable, sexy and spice! Her past is a mystery she’s trying to figure out but to do that she needs Sterling and he makes nothing easy!

This book is impeccably executed, keeping you guessing, reading and honestly not knowing what the next twist will be. Author Aleatha Romig has the beginning of an outstanding series in her hands!!!

As this is not a stand alone novel I personally don’t want to give away any spoilers but trust me it’s a 5 star must read.

Title: Peony Red

Author: J. Lynn Bailey

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Peony Red:

Alex Fisher hasn’t been able to find her stride since the death of her husband three years ago. She’s out of a job, out of time, and running on fumes. So, when she receives two postcards from Granite Harbor, Maine, inviting her for a visit, she takes it as a sign for a start fresh.

For game warden Eli Young, life is simpler when he’s exploring the back roads of Maine. In the north woods, he doesn’t have to deal with town politics or his soon-to-be ex-wife.

When Alex makes Eli an offer he can’t refuse, he should say no. He should walk away. Except he can’t. Something about her leaves him tangled.

A dark storm is brewing in the small coastal town, and everyone is on edge when word spreads quickly about a young woman who has gone missing.

When a picture of Alex shows up at a gruesome scene, no one is prepared for what will happen next.

Eli wants to save Alex, but she has to save herself.

The question isn’t, Can she? It’s, Will she?

Exclusive Excerpt:

Eli scoots closer, his look hooded. “Get under the covers.”

I obey. I know what he needs because I feel the same carnal need. Maybe we should just have sex, and all this would go away. I want him to slide on top of me, and I want to feel him between my legs.

Hesitantly, with the blanket between us, he carefully brushes the strands of my hair out of my face and then slides his hand down my neck. My body is fully aware of his presence, and I want nothing more than to feel him.

My breathing quickens.

With a layer of feathers between his hand and my body, his hand grazes over my breasts, my nipples knowing full well the seriousness of this situation as they tingle and expand, creating an ache.

His hand slides down across my stomach, and his eyes ask if this is all right.

I know this is not Kyle but Eli. Someone new. The only other man I’ve allowed to touch me like this. The feathers provide the buffer that I think we both need.

My lips part, and I lick them because they, too, desperately need attention. My legs fall to the sides, providing Eli with space that he needs and me with more want.

I need to resist him.
I need not to want him.
I need to gain clarity in my mind of what this looks like, this situation we’re both agreeing to, but I can’t. Because all I see is his face, which is full of concern, but I think it’s also something he can’t stop.

Eli’s hand stops right before he reaches the center of my body, the part that has only been claimed by Kyle. It isn’t because Eli wants to; it’s because he has to.

“I can’t do this with you, Alex.”

REVIEW:

Peony Red wasn’t at all what I expected in the most amazing way. It was truly a heart felt beautiful mystery about loss, adventure and starting over.

Most books are predictable with the story it’s telling and where I was able to predict love after loss in this coast to coast novel I wasn’t at all prepared for the emotions and mystery laid between the pages!

Alex and Eli’s story was one that I truly loved. There was no fighting, no constant bickering it was a relationship that was respectful and compatible from the get go. They brought the heat and the love was real but more than anything it was understanding.

Author J. Lynn Bailey provided the essence that made this novel magical in setting, beautiful in romance and the wow factor in mystery.

REVIEW: Break is a second chance standalone novel. When I first read this book I felt like there were so many avenues that were never perused. I was left with a lot of “why” questions, wondering if these would be explained later rather than sooner. Truth is so many of my questions were never answered and while that was a deterrent from really liking this story it didn’t ruin the story for me.

Our hero Ben evokes a love/hate relationship for me. He’s extremely smug but at the same time you get a damaged type of vibe from him that makes you almost like him. I feel he truly never felt any true remorse for breaking Charley’s heart. His character lacked a certain amount of regret making him more of an ass than a hero for me.

Charley our female character is not at all what I expected. She’s strong yet weak, timid yet outspoken, hard yet soft. Yet she comes off as completely predictable.

Overall I didn’t fall in love with Break but I didn’t hate it either. I loved the concept for this book. The reason for the heartache was brilliantly thought out, I just felt the characters lacked a certain depth for the situation.

3 1/2 stars….

Chapter 3 (Excerpt):

I’m about to turn around and head back to the Uber, when Charley stands up from the chair and begins making her way toward the entrance. It’s like watching an angel coming at me, but from the stony expression on her face, I can’t decide if she looks more like a guardian angel or an angel of death. Either way, she’s gorgeous: tall and slender, with hips that would make a grown man cry; her dark hair cascades over her shoulders in luscious waves; round, hazel eyes and full lips framed by soft cheekbones and a perfect oval face.

She always complained about the tiny bump on her nose, or that her top lip wasn’t as full as her bottom lip. I used to tell her that complaining about those things is like looking at a gorgeous sunset and complaining that the sun is too bright.

Michelle glares at Charley and says something that looks like, “What are you doing?”

Charley says something to her that I can’t make out, but Michelle shakes her head adamantly. Charley glares at her, then says something that looks like, “Do it.”

Michelle rolls her eyes and they both continue toward me as Michelle pulls a ring of keys out of her apron. My heart soars as I realize Charley is forcing her friend to open the door. Maybe she’s not as angry with me as I anticipated.

The whole time Michelle is unlocking the door, I keep my gaze focused on Charley, willing her to look at me and give me some kind of smile or nod or something to let me know I’m right. But her eyes are trained on Michelle’s hands. Finally, the door pushes out toward me and Charley emerges with an expression on her face I’ve never seen before. I can’t explain it any other way except a stone-cold lack of emotion.

“Charley, I just want to talk to you. Just give me five minutes.”

Her expression doesn’t change. “I don’t want to talk to you, Ben. You should leave before Mason gets here.”

“It’s probably better that he’s here. I owe him an apology, too,” I say, taking a step toward her.

Michelle steps sideways, half her body shielding Charley now. “That’s close enough.”

Charley puts her hand on Michelle’s arm. “You can go inside. I can handle this.”

“Are you sure?”

Charley nods and we both watch in silence as Michelle shoots me one last burning glare before she heads back inside. “Look, Ben, I’m sure you’ve probably made up some kind of excuse that justifies what you did to me. But there’s nothing you could say that will make me understand or forgive what you did. So, once again, I’m asking you to leave. I really don’t want to see what Mason will do to you when he gets here.”

The cool expression on her face and the even tone in her voice chills my blood. What have I done to her?

“You know damn well Mason’s never been able to take me.”

“He’s been rage-lifting,” she replies coolly, using the phrase I made up for when I would take my aggression out at the gym. “I don’t want him to get in trouble with the cops when he kicks your ass.”

I suppress my laughter, so I don’t further piss her off. “Baby, I’m not here to get in fights or make excuses. And—”

“Don’t call me baby.”

I pause for a moment and take a deep breath. “Look, I don’t expect you to forgive me. Not tonight, anyway.”

She clenches her jaw and lets out a puff of laughter through her nose. “You really are just as cocky as always if you think I’d ever forgive you.”

I close my eyes for a second to collect myself as anger roars inside me. “You…have no fucking idea why I did what I did.”

“I don’t care why you did it!” she shouts, her stony expression crumbling. “You broke us! I don’t want to see you ever again. Go back to L.A., Ben.”

I step forward and grab her elbows. “This isn’t over, Char.”

“Don’t touch me!” she yells, wrestling her arms from my grip.

I’m close enough to smell her now, that sugared-strawberry scent I remember so fucking well it makes my arms ache to hold her. “You have no fucking idea how sorry I am.”

“Are you drunk? I can smell alcohol.”

I blink at her question, standing my ground as I see the headlights of a car approaching.

She glances toward the lights and her eyes widen with panic. “Go home, Ben. Please. As much as I hate you, I don’t want to see you hurt.”

I shake my head. “It’s too late for that.”

|New Release & Review| How To Date A Douchebag: The Learning Hours by: Sara Ney

He’s not a douchebag;

but that doesn’t stop his friends from

turning him into one.

MY FRIENDS WANT ME TO GET LAID.

So much so that they plastered my ugly mug all over campus, in bold printed letters:

Are you the lucky lady who’s going to break our roommate’s cherry?

Him: socially awkward man with average-sized penis looking for willing sexual partner. You: must have pulse. Text him at: 555-254-5551

The morons can’t even spell. And the texts I’ve been receiving are what wet dreams are made of. But I’m not like these douchebags, no matter how hard they try to turn me into one.

THIS ISN’T THE KIND OF ATTENTION I WANT.

One text stands out from hundreds. One number I can’t bring myself to block. She seems different. Hotter, even in black and white.

However, after seeing her in person, I know she’s not the girl for me. But my friends won’t let up—they just don’t get it. Douchebags or not, there’s one thing they’ll never understand: GIRLS DON’T WANT ME.

Especially her.

He’s seated at a table in the far corner when I spot him from the door. He’s not hard to miss—not with his purple t-shirt in a sea of black and yellow, and wavy mussed hair.

He’s slouching, hunched over his table.

Defeated. Tired.

My stomach rolls with nerves, nerves that have me rooted to the spot in the doorway, watching him.
Just watching.

For the entire four minutes I stand here, he sits immobile, studying his laptop, eyes moving along the screen, completely transfixed by whatever he’s reading.

Learning.

“Just go over there,” I whisper to myself, blowing out a puff of pent-up air.

I put one foot in front of the other and begin toward him, spine ramrod straight, steeling myself, prepared for another argument.

Twenty feet.

Fifteen.

Eight.

Two.

“Hi.”

No reply.

“Do you mind if I sit here?” I lay my hand on the back of the wooden chair across from him, intending to pull it out.

He stiffens but doesn’t lift his head. “Yes I mind.”

“Would you mind if I sat at the table next to you?” I’m pushing his buttons, looking for a reaction, but he only spares me a brief glance.

Shrugs. “Free country.”

I bite my lip to hide a smile, glad he didn’t tell me to take a hike…

|REVIEW|

Oh my damn….. This book absolutely slayed me! Author Sara Ney absolutely made this book her bitch. Seriously, she absolutely killed it!

How To Date A Douche Bag: The Learning Hours is by far my favorite of the series. It didn’t bring profound meaning to my life or leave me on the floor crying but it entertained me, left me smiling, cringing and laughing out loud. This book is by far one of my favorite of the year and will be one I re-read several times over because I’m just that type of person.

Rhett Rabideaux IS NOT a douchebag. He’s also not good looking….. above the neck that is. Rhett knows he’s not good looking, how could he forget with his teammates constantly telling him. But he’s not in college to win a beauty contest, he’s there to wrestle and get good grades. He has no use for social scenes, girls never give him the time of day and not to mention he’s constantly being crapped on by his team for being the “New Guy.” Until the day his team takes it to far and hangs up flyers to get him laid, thinking this will loosen up the new guy. Rhett is an amazing character, plain and simple. He is exactly what you would expect a man to act like, especially one that is always told he’s ugly, insecure and guarded! Never fear though good things happen for our gorgeously un-gorgeous boy.

Laurel Bishop IS A douchebag! She decides to play a joke on Rhett since he needs to get laid. As most things go Laurel gets caught and unfortunately for her does damage from the beginning. Laurel realizes that Rhett is so much more than an unpleasant face and she is going to have to work at instilling confidence back into Rhett where she is concerned! Laurel is gorgeousness and confidence walking on two legs and probably way more than what Rhett can ever handle, but Laurel likes a challenge. Laurel isn’t horrible and like our past douchebags she has her redeeming moments that bring her full circle into a like-able character.

Laurel and Rhett’s story is an “Oh damn” moment time and time again. One that had me completely entertained for the entirety of the book. I highly recommend you pick it up, 1click or whatever it is you do, just do it. Also on another note, even though this is the 3rd book in the series it can be read as a stand alone, however I recommend the entire series!

5 Stars…..

|Release & Review| Lust by: Emma Hart

LUST2New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart, brings together two polar-opposite single parents in the second book in the sinfully sexy Vegas Nights series.

Detective Adrian Potter had a lot to answer for. I didn’t care that he was tasked with shutting down the city’s most prolific hookers.

I cared that he was stopping me from providing for my daughter.

He didn’t care.
Not at all.
Until I broke down in the backseat of his car… And he let me go.

Adrian was a single parent, too. He knew how hard I had it. At least, he thought he did.
He had a job. He had people who cared. He didn’t know just how lucky he was.

My name is Perrie Fox.
I was a whore of the highest value.

Until Detective Adrian Potter.

Until the tattooed, redemption-seeking detective entered my life, looking for his fairytale.

The cop and the hooker.

Happily ever fucking never.

You’ve met one Fox sibling.
Now meet the other…

(LUST is book two of the Vegas Nights series. While it is a standalone, the time frame does overlap with scenes in the previous book, SIN. You can, however, read LUST without reading SIN.

 Review:

With each book that I read of Emma Harts I fall a little more in love with her style of writing and penchant for writing strong female characters that make me want to pump my fist in the air!!

They leave me feeling empowered and unstoppable! Seriously these women are inspiring, did I mention that Perrie Fox is a classy whore trying to make ends meet while raising her daughter in Las Vegas? Yes, even Perrie’s character is inspiring, which only speaks of the incredible talent and bad assery (yes that’s a word!) that Emma Hart is able to bring to the table with her writing.

Perrie Fox doesn’t have it as easy as everyone thinks. She has the Fox name but not the Fox bank account. She’s selling small pieces of her soul every time she has to walk out her door to sell herself to the greedy and selfish men of Las Vegas , just to take care of her daughter. Perrie is a strong, sarcastic, no-nonsense woman, raising her daughter on her terms and doing just fine until Detective Adrain Potter came into the picture. Adrian is able to offer Perrie the out she’s been looking for, but at what cost she’s not sure.

Detective Adrian Potter on the outside is a bad ass detective but on the inside he’s just a single dad trying to make it in life. Adrian was a walking mystery to me throughout the book until my aha moment. I loved his strong yet unsure character. I love that he never tried to stomp on Perrie’s strong character or belittle what she did for a living even though he knew there was a better way for her to earn. He’s the epitome of a strong male who is confident even when being brought down by a hellion like Perrie.

Perrie and Adrian together are hotter than a whore in church…. Too Punny? Oh, well I tried. Anyways this couple has a chemistry so hot you can’t help but feel it.

To say I loved this book would be an understatement, I loved the hell out of this book and highly recommend that you pick it up and read the love story of the detective and the hooker….

5 stars….

Release Day: August 8th
Standalone

A new stand alone enemies-to-lovers romance by USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

I spent six weeks screwing Austin Wright’s brains out and all I got was this broken heart.

He can’t be trusted. Not with my body or my heart. Yet, two years have passed and I still crave him like an addict needing a fix.

The last time we tried this, it nearly ruined me. I know I should run and never look back. But his dark haunted eyes and razor blade smile speak to my soul. His touch sets my body on fire. And we all know what happens when you light gasoline. Someone is bound to get burned.

A second chance might destroy us both.

Because everyone knows two wrongs don’t make a Wright.

Review:

When I signed on to review this book I can honestly say I wasn't prepared for the the myriad of emotions that I would go through from beginning to end. Author K.A. Linde beautifully navigated her way through the world of addiction and family only to come out on the other side with an amazing book that stays with you long after you've finished.

Austin Wright is the definition of a mess, a sexy and gorgeous mess whose mouth gets him into more trouble than not. Austin wrestles with the demons of his past letting it effect his present and his future, sabotaging any chance he has at happiness. Austin was an enigma to me all through out the story, I could never really grasp why this beautifully amazing man didn't think he deserved more out of life but I never felt sorry for his situation because he truly was the master of his own hell. Luckily for Austin he has Julia Banner to kick his butt into shape when he gets particularly stupid.

Julia Banner is everything I love in a female character. First and foremost she's a bad ass who doesn't conform.. LOVE THIS QUALITY. Julia is a fireball of sass, refusing to take less than what she deserves out of life. Julia is also this beautiful mess of confidence and lack there of. Austin surprisingly is the only person who knows what passion Julia keeps hidden and knows exactly how to help her with her lack of confidence, showing that he's not as self centered as she originally believed.

Julia and Austin are inexplicably drawn together time and time again, but they mix like oil and water….. I really felt the amount of arguing these two did would become off putting but in the end it added to the charm of their story and helped develop the relationship they had. The fireworks were all but coming off the pages of this amazing tale of devastation, love, betrayal and family.

The Wright Mistake is book 3 of the series but can be read as a stand alone!

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars!!!

|Book Review|Sin by: Emma Hart

Damien fox lived up to his name. Cunning, sly, and dangerous, fifty percent of Vegas’ strip clubs were his.

Whatever he wanted, money, attention, women, he got.

And now he wanted to buy my bar, no matter the cost.

I wanted him to go to hell on a first-class ticket.

He played a dirty game, and I followed his rules. I let him think he would win.

Despite our differences, it was clear to see that we were no more than two broken hearts colliding in the darkness.

Closed off, sexy, and holding a pain that would crush a lesser man, he was the ultimate sin.

One I couldn’t deny myself, even though I knew better than to trust a fox…

(SIN is book one of the Vegas Nights series. Each book in this series is a standalone novel.)

Review:

When I first read the blurb for Sin I automatically assumed it would be the typical Vegas type of story. I was wrong. I’m proud and happy to admit I was wrong, because Author Emma Hart made this story her bitch. Sin exudes the type of heat that you want in a romance, the type of sex that makes you rethink what you’re doing in the bedroom and the type of heart that it takes to make you absolutely swoon.

Dahlia Lloyd is the smart, sassy and beautiful owner of the Scarlet Letter, Vegas’ one and only book bar.  Dahlia has been groomed to take over the bar, she loves it and its her life but someone else wants it and they will stop at nothing until they get it. Enter Damien Fox owner of half of Vegas’ strip clubs and the pain in Dahlia’s ass, the someone who wants Dahlia’s bar and the man who won’t take no for an answer. On the outside Damien comes off as a cocky, arrogant, chauvinistic and sexy man. Once you dig a little deeper you still find a cocky and slightly chauvinistic male but one with a deeper story and one who cares in his own way. I honestly loved Damien, he wasn’t perfect and the layers of his life made him so much more in this story.

This story made me laugh with the arguments, the sass and not to mention the power struggle that went on between these two. Oh and did I mention the sex is something straight out of your dreams, because its hella hot.

This book gets 5 stars all day long !!!!

By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to two beautiful little monsters. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of whatever she fancies—usually wine—and writes books.

Emma is working on Top Secret projects she will share with her followers and fans at every available opportunity. Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling (or several) of hold-onto-your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love.

She likes to be busy—unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.

About PROM QUEEN

A high school reunion is about to get down and dirty and a whole lot more complicated in this new erotic romance from NYT Bestselling Author Katee Robert.

Jake Davis had it all in high school—a scholarship to his college of choice, a promising football career, and the gorgeous prom queen for a girlfriend. And then he lost it all when he was injured right after graduation. Ten years later, he’s mostly made his peace with that, and now runs a company that provides women with dates for special events. Imagine his surprise when he discovers that the ex who left him in the dust needs a fake boyfriend for their high school reunion…

Jessica Jackson used to be the mean girl to end all mean girls. But life didn’t turn out like she’d thought it would, and now she’s twenty-eight, single, and works as an insurance agent to A-listers instead of being the A-lister like she’d always dreamed. She can’t go back to her home town and admit just how thoroughly she’s failed, so she lets her friends set her up with a fake date for the reunion.

The second Jessica realizes that her fake date is Jake, she tries to call the whole thing off. The problem is the chemistry between them is even hotter now than it was when they were teenagers. Against her better judgment she lets herself get drawn into Jake’s arms again—and into his bed. But time doesn’t heal all wounds—sometimes, it actually makes them worse—and if Jessica and Jake can’t learn to forgive each other, their second chance might not last the weekend.

It took less time than she would have expected to give a short medical history, and then they were being led back to a dimly lit room with two massage beds sitting side by side and soft music playing in the background. After getting assurances that they didn’t have preferences about the gender of their masseuse, the woman—Sarah—left, closing the door softly behind her.

It was only then that Jessica realized the problem. “I’m not stripping in front of you.”

Jake shot her a look. “I’ve seen every inch of you.”

“It’s different when we’re having sex.” He had been so distracted by the whole having sex thing, he hadn’t been likely to look at her imperfections. They might have been few when she was a teenager, but they were legion now. Five years ago, she’d given up on perfection. Being skinny and perfectly put together every second of every day hadn’t saved her from being fired. It hadn’t stopped her jerk boyfriend from dumping her at dinner in front of an entire crowd of people. And it hadn’t made a damn bit of difference when she couldn’t make rent and was evicted.

So she stopped it a little bit at a time. Going brunette was the hardest—and biggest step—but after that it was as if she’d flipped a switch in her head. She’d leave the house without makeup, or eat a second slice of pizza.

Despite her mama’s dire warnings, the world didn’t end.

She still worked out, but she did it because it made her happy and decreased her stress, not because she wanted to be a size four. And she ate now—mostly healthy, sure, but she’d stopped denying herself little indulgences. Between those two things and the fact she was staring thirty in the face, her body was a lot softer than it used to be. Her stomach was soft instead of taut, and…

What am I doing?

Sometime in the last five seconds, her internal voice had turned into her mama’s. She pressed her hands to either side of her head. Stop it right this instant. Jessica straightened and dropped her arms. Jake looked like he was going to ask her what the hell was going on, but she didn’t give him the chance.

She yanked her zipper down nearly hard enough to rip the fabric. It wasn’t a smooth move to shimmy out of the dress, but she managed. She didn’t meet his gaze as she dipped her thumbs into her Spanx, silently daring him to say a single freaking word.

And then she was naked and there was nowhere left to look.

Jake stared at her body like he was in a desert and had just set eyes on an oasis. He took a step toward her, but she moved to put the table between them. “Massage.”

“Screw the massage.”

A knock on the door interrupted them.

“Just a minute,” Jake’s voice was so rough, his words were nearly indecipherable.

Warmth flowed through her at the realization that she was causing this reaction. She wasn’t nearly as aloof as she wanted to be, because she stared as he pulled his shirt over his head and stripped out of his jeans.

Jake was…

Jake was magnificent.

He’d always had a great body, but the body she’d known so well was the body of a boy. This Jake was a man, through and through. His muscles roped along his frame, no tan lines to be seen. The only break in the color were the scars on his shoulder and arm. A smattering of dark hair created a triangle designed to draw her gaze south, ever south, to where his cock was standing at attention. She pressed her thighs together, but there was no hiding her reaction any more than he could hide his. Her breasts felt larger and her nipples pebbled under his gaze. “Jake—”

“Massage.” He pointed at her table and then waited for her to obey before he carefully laid face down on the other. “This was the worst fucking idea I’ve ever had.”

Jessica was inclined to agree. All of her earlier pep talks about keeping her hands off him went up in smoke. They should have just rented a hotel room far enough out of town that no one would care that they didn’t stay the night. They could have lost themselves in each other’s bodies for hours.

About Katee Robert

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Katee Robert learned to tell her stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her 2015 title, The Marriage Contract, was a RITA finalist, and RT Book Reviews named it ‘a compulsively readable book with just the right amount of suspense and tension.” When not writing sexy contemporary and romantic suspense, she spends her time playing imaginary games with her children, driving her husband batty with what-if questions, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
